Hey friends,

I am back with a detailed face wash review for you all. And the product that I am going to talk about today is the popular and much in demand Mamaearth Ubtan Face Wash with Turmeric & Saffron

Mamaearth Ubtan Face Wash was on my wish list for quite some time now because of a few attractions. Firstly, it claims to pamper the skin by rejuvenating dull, tanned skin and making it look fresh and bright. Secondly, the age-old tradition of using 'ubtan' as a beauty treatment for skin brightening has been included in this face wash. In addition to this, Mamaearth is the first & I think the only Made Safe Certified Indian brand. This means that their products are free from all known, banned toxins. This makes their products safer to use. Not to forget, this product is also one of Amazon's best-selling face washes.

With so many raving reviews and hype around it, does this product really work well as claimed? Well, keep reading to know more about it & how this face wash fared on my sometimes dry-combination skin type.

About Mamaearth Ubtan Face Wash

Externally, Mamaearth Ubtan Face wash has a striking look with white, green, brown and yellowish-orange colors primarily coming into play on their plastic tube packaging. The tube is opaque, light weight and comes with a tight flip cap opening, which is fabulous.

All necessary information that you need about the product, is printed on the tube. For example, apart from the name - Mamaearth Ubtan Face Wash with Turmeric & Saffron, details like 'for tan removal', its net volume and it being 'paraben & SLS free', 'hypoallergenic' and 'suits all skin types' are given at the front side.

At the back side of the tube - its ingredients, directions for use and manufacturing/packaging details are given. I will list down the important details for you all.

Hero Ingredients (Found on Mamaearth website)

* Saffron: Saffron has many vitamins and antioxidants that are beneficial to the skin. They not only add radiance to the skin but also soothe it.

* Turmeric: Turmeric protects the skin from free radical damage due to its natural anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties. This helps in delaying premature ageing. Turmeric also offers natural glow to the skin, retains moisture balance and makes the skin soft, bright and supple.

* Walnut Beads: Walnut beads help in gently exfoliating the impurities and dead skin cells from the upper layer of the skin, to reveal a fresh, bright and smooth skin underneath.

* Carrot seed oil:  Carrot seed oil is known for helping in tan and spot removal while restoring the skin's natural glow.

My Review

Mamearth Ubtan Face Wash has a colorful and sturdy packaging, which is attractive to look at. It is also hygienic and travel-friendly, since the actual product, i.e., the face wash, doesn't spill due to its slightly thick and creamy texture. In fact the face wash, looks similar to an ubtan paste - yellowish in color with tiny dark brown granules in it.

The fragrance of Mamaearth Ubtan Face Wash is pleasant but fades away after washing. However, I could smell turmeric in it. This smell is not strong, so people with sensitive noses can use it comfortably.

I have been using this face wash for 2 weeks straight and am still using it. As a routine (during bath time), I usually take a coin-size of this face wash with a few drops of water and first massage it between my palms. I then apply and massage it all over my face for a good 1 minute, giving extra attention to scrubbing my nose (I have blackheads there), forehead and chin. This face wash doesn't lather or foam. However, it has a good aftereffect. My skin looks fresh, smooth and bright after use.

As mentioned above, my skin tilts towards the dry/combination side, and this face wash contains tiny walnut granules for scrubbing/exfoliation. Hence, I use this face wash only once a day, as I do not want any tears or harm on my skin. Thankfully, it has not made my skin dry, stretchy or irritated. However, I also immediately moisturize my face after cleansing to prevent any of these.

As for the claims, this face wash is advertised as an exfoliating face wash. Hence, I was looking forward to getting rid of my nose blackheads. Though I can see a slight reduction, the stubborn black heads are still there. Likewise, this face wash claims to help remove tan. Does it work? Well, this face wash instantly brightens and gives a natural glow after face cleansing. But I don't see it as a go-to tan removal cleanser, as there are better products for this in the market. These are the two most prominent disappointments for me.

On the other hand, Mamaearth Ubtan Face Wash does offer a few benefits. For example, it is free from paraben and SLS, provides light exfoliation, gives an instant brightness to the skin, and does not dry it out. Also, some of its ingredients, like turmeric, saffron, niacinamide, Carrot Seed Oil, Orange Oil and Ylang Ylang Oil are helpful in making skin smooth, bright, and hydrated.

Overall, if you are looking for a face wash that is gentle, brightens skin, and offers light scrubbing, then give this one a try. It should suit people with combination, normal, oily (do not scrub hard) skin. Likewise, I wouldn't recommend it for people with acne or pimples, very dry skin, or sensitive skin.

My Ratings

I would go with 4.2/5.

Would I repurchase it? Yes. But not immediately after this tube finishes.

So, here I conclude my review of Mamaearth Ubtan Face Wash with Turmeric and Saffron. What do you think of it, friends? Have any of you tried it? If yes, then I would love to read about your experience in the comments section below. 🤗
