VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil

Hello friends! Welcome back to my blog!

I’ve been seeing rosemary essential oil related reels everywhere on my Insta feed lately and honestly, my first instinct was to scroll past them. But after a month of noticing more hair than usual on my comb, thanks to Bengaluru’s hard water and the chilly winters, I started looking for one myself.

Rosemary essential oil is often associated with improved scalp circulation, reduced hair fall, and healthier and stronger hair when used correctly. So, when VedaOils reached out for a collaboration, I decided to finally put their rosemary essential oil to the test. I am promising no overnight miracles, just an honest look at whether this 'science-backed' herb from their brand actually earns its place in my haircare routine.

Before I dive into my detailed review of VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil, let me share a little about the brand.

About VedaOils

Honestly, this was a fairly new brand introduction for me, so the first thing I did was a bit of research. According to their About Us page, VedaOils was founded in 2018 and is a homegrown Indian brand based in Delhi and has been steadily growing in the global essential oils market.

What really caught my eye was their transparency. The brand has made its certifications publicly available, including KOSHER, HALAL, HACCP, and WHO-GMP. It’s refreshing to see a 'Made in India' brand maintaining such global compliance standards.

VedaOils operates under a 'one umbrella' approach, manufacturing a wide range of products including essential oils, carrier oils, natural clays, butters, candle supplies, soap bases, and floral waters. Knowing that their products are positioned as natural and free from nasty chemical additives and toxins gave me the confidence to actually try their rosemary oil on my scalp.

Uses of Rosemary Essential Oil (As Mentioned on the Brand’s Website)

Apart from hair care, the brand lists several other uses for rosemary essential oil:

* Aromatherapy: Can be used to promote mental clarity and help ease fatigue or stress.
* For congestion relief: Inhalation is suggested for temporary relief from nasal or throat congestion.
* As a room freshener: A few diluted drops can be added to a diffuser and used as a natural room freshener.
* DIY products: Commonly used in scented candles, soaps, incense sticks, natural perfumes and deodorants.
* DIY skincare: Can be added to face masks, creams, toners, face washes, soaps, and moisturizers when properly diluted and patch-tested.

Benefits of Rosemary Essential Oil (As Mentioned on the Brand’s Website)

According to the brand’s website, rosemary essential oil is associated with the following haircare benefits when used correctly and consistently:

* Supports scalp circulation: Rosemary essential oil helps improve blood circulation in the scalp, which may support healthier hair growth over time.
* Helps soothe the scalp: Its anti-inflammatory properties are said to calm scalp irritation and may help reduce issues like dryness and dandruff.
* Strengthens hair follicles: Regular use helps in strengthening hair roots, which may reduce hair breakage.
* May improve hair thickness: Rosemary essential oil is said to help minimize hair thinning and improve overall hair density.
* Adds natural shine: It helps enhance hair radiance, leaving hair looking healthier and shinier.
* Provides antioxidant support: Rosemary essential oil is known to contain antioxidants that help fight free radicals and support scalp and cellular health.

My Review

On arrival, the first thing I always observe is the packaging. VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil came packaged in a sturdy aluminum container with a white plastic screw cap. The packaging felt quite different to me. It came across as simple, functional, and slightly industrial rather than cosmetic, which kind of aligns with the brand’s focus on bulk supply and DIY usage.

Likewise, the label on the bottle is minimal and straightforward. It mentions the product name, net weight, manufacturing date, best-before timeline (shelf life), along with manufacturing details and basic contact information. There are no loud claims or marketing-heavy descriptions printed on the container.

On removing the outer plastic cap, I noticed there was another inner plastic seal fitted very tightly inside. While there is a small plastic pull tab provided on the inner seal, in my case, it was so tight that the tab actually broke when I tried to pull it. I eventually had to use a knife to carefully pry around the edges of the seal to remove it. While this level of sealing is excellent for preventing leakage, it isn't very user-friendly. Again, this might be specific to the bottle (from the batch) I received, but it's something to keep in mind when opening your bottle for the first time.

On opening the bottle, the aroma was quite strong and concentrated. To me, it smelled fresh, cooling, and sharp with a noticeable eucalyptus-like note and an almost Vicks-style freshness. This honestly aligns with what rosemary essential oil is generally known to smell like, which was reassuring. Inside, the rosemary essential oil itself is colorless and has a water-like appearance, though it feels oily to the touch.

One practical drawback I noticed is the absence of a dropper or controlled dispenser. Pouring the oil directly from the bottle can be a little messy, as it tends to ooze from the sides. Personally, I feel this oil would be easier to use if transferred into a dropper bottle or paired with a separate dropper or spray container for more controlled application.

After Using It for 15 Days

I transferred the oil into a spare dropper bottle to make usage easier. For each application, I mixed 3 drops of VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil with coconut oil, which I used as my carrier oil.

I have used this blend to massage my scalp three times so far, and I also used it in the same way for my daughter. Since it has only been about 15 days of usage, I don’t think it’s fair to comment on visible hair regrowth yet. Hair growth is a long-term process and usually takes consistent use over a few months.

However, one thing I did notice for both of us is a reduction in hair fall while combing and washing. The hair also feels softer to touch and appears slightly shinier after application. These are early observations, and I believe the long-term benefits can only be assessed with continued use over time. With the current results, I would say, I am satisfied and would continue using this blend.

Simple Paper Test (Personal Check)

Out of curiosity and purely for my own satisfaction, I also did a simple home paper test (a method I came across online). I placed two drops of the rosemary essential oil on plain white paper and left it undisturbed.

After about 4 hours, the oil had largely evaporated and did not leave a greasy or oily residue to touch, only a very faint translucent mark. This, I understand, is generally expected of volatile essential oils that are not diluted or mixed with any carrier or mineral oils. This was a basic personal check and not a laboratory purity test. However, it was reassuring to observe that VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil passed this test.

Pros of VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil

  • Minimal, no-frills aluminum packaging feels sturdy and practical for regular, travel, or DIY use.
  • Priced affordably considering the quantity, especially when compared to smaller rosemary essential oil bottles found online.
  • Has a sharp, strong, herbal and eucalyptus-like fragrance that aligns with how rosemary essential oil is generally known to smell.
  • The oil is lightweight and colorless, and it does not feel heavy or sticky on the scalp when mixed with a carrier oil.
  • Blends easily with coconut oil without separating and should work well with other commonly used carrier oils like castor oil, jojoba oil, or almond oil.
  • Only 2–3 drops are needed per use, so the bottle lasts long.
  • Hair feels softer to touch and slightly shinier after a few uses.
  • Hair fall appears visibly reduced after about 15 days of use.
  • It is versatile and can be used beyond hair care, including aromatherapy, DIY skincare, during bathing, and for making candles, soaps, and in diffusers.

Cons of VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil

  • Industrial-style packaging may not appeal to everyone, as the aluminium container feels more bulk-oriented than cosmetic or premium.
  • The inner plastic seal is very tight and difficult to remove, which, while helpful for leakage prevention, is not very user-friendly.
  • No dropper is provided, so pouring the oil directly from the bottle can be messy, as it may spill from the sides or dispense more oil than required. Transferring rosemary oil to a separate dropper bottle becomes necessary for controlled use.

My Ratings

Based on my experience so far, I would rate VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil 4.2 out of 5. The oil itself feels authentic, potent, and lightweight when diluted properly. I have also noticed early signs like reduced hair fall and smoother hair, which is encouraging. Its multipurpose usage also adds to its overall appeal.

The main deductions are for the packaging experience, particularly the lack of a dropper and the difficult-to-remove inner seal, which affects ease of use for regular home application. That said, I feel these are usability issues rather than issues with the quality of the oil itself.

So, if you are looking for concentrated rosemary essential oil for hair care, skincare or DIY purposes, and don’t mind transferring it into a dropper bottle, then VedaOils Rosemary Essential Oil is definitely worth a purchase.
