Review: Dot & Key Vitamin C + E Super Bright Moisturizer (15 ml Sample)

One thing I've observed about skincare is that not every product leaves a lasting impression. Some products are nice to use, while a few make you want to repurchase them whenever you get the chance. That's exactly how I felt about the Dot & Key Vitamin C + E Super Bright Moisturizer.

I first tried the 15 ml trial pack of Dot & Key Vitamin C + E Super Bright Moisturizer through Smytten app about six months ago. I liked it so much that I even considered buying the full-size version. Somehow, I never got around to it. Recently, when I had trial points to redeem on Smytten again, I found myself choosing the same moisturizer instead of trying something new.

Now that I'm using it once again, I thought it was the perfect time to share my honest review of the Dot & Key Vitamin C + E Super Bright Moisturizer and tell you all about it.

Enriched with Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and nourishing ingredients, it claims to brighten dull-looking skin, provide long-lasting hydration, and support a healthy skin barrier without feeling greasy.

The 15 ml Smytten sample pack mentions only the key ingredients given below.

* Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter: Helps deeply moisturize the skin and lock in moisture for soft, supple skin.

* Citrus Sinensis (Blood Orange) Fruit Extract: An antioxidant-rich ingredient that helps minimize free radical damage.

* Glycerin: A humectant that attracts and retains moisture in the skin.

* Terminalia ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Fruit Extract: A natural source of Vitamin C that is commonly used in brightening skincare products.

Note: According to the brand's official website, the moisturizer also features Vitamin E and a Triple Vitamin C Complex as hero ingredients. However, these two are not specifically mentioned on the 15 ml Smytten sample pack.

Directions to Use

Start by applying the moisturizer to a clean face and neck. Massage it gently in upward motions until it is fully absorbed. The brand recommends using it daily in both your morning and evening skincare routine. If you're applying it during the day, follow it with sunscreen. According to the brand, the moisturizer can also be used as a makeup base.

As I mentioned before, I received the 15 ml trial pack of the Dot & Key Vitamin C + E Super Bright Moisturizer through Smytten. The MRP printed on the sample pack is ₹195. From what I could find, this 15 ml trial size is primarily available through Smytten's trial points program, while the regular retail sizes are widely available on the brand's official website and leading online and offline retailers.

My Review

Here's my experience with the Dot & Key Vitamin C + E Super Bright Moisturizer, starting with its packaging, followed by its color, texture, fragrance, and how it performed on my skin.

Packaging

As you can see in the pictures, the Dot & Key Vitamin C + E Super Bright Moisturizer comes in an opaque, bright yellow plastic tub with a contrasting white mushroom-shaped cap. The packaging immediately caught my attention because it looks quite different from the usual moisturizer tubs available in the market. I personally found it very cute, cheerful, and attractive.

Despite being made of plastic, the 15 ml tub is lightweight and compact, making it extremely travel-friendly. It can easily fit into a handbag, backpack, or toiletry pouch, making it a convenient option if you're travelling for a couple of days.

The information printed on the tub itself is minimal. It simply mentions the brand name, product name, and the net quantity (15 ml). The manufacturing date, expiry date, batch number, and MRP are printed at the bottom of the tub.

By the way, the sample tub came sealed inside a bright yellow outer paper carton. Unlike the tub, the carton carried much more information, including the product name, key ingredients, net quantity, batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates, MRP, manufacturing details, customer care information, and other usual product-related details.

Colour, Texture and Fragrance

When you open the white mushroom-shaped cap, you'll find a transparent plastic inner lid that helps prevent the moisturizer from spilling or coming into direct contact with the cap.

The first thing I noticed after removing the inner lid was the fragrance. I absolutely loved it! To me, it has a fresh, citrusy scent that reminded me of a freshly cut lemon. The fragrance isn't overpowering and instantly made the moisturizer feel refreshing to use.

As for the product itself, the moisturizer has a pale yellow colour and a lightweight, sorbet gel-like texture. It spreads easily across the skin without feeling heavy and has a smooth, soft consistency.

My Experience

According to the brand, this moisturizer is suitable for all skin types, including oily, dry, combination, and dry skin. Since I have combination skin, I found that it suited my skin very well. While the brand suggests using it twice a day as part of your morning and evening skincare routine, I have been applying it only at night for the past 12 days, as I have the small 15 ml sample pack and wanted it to last longer.

I usually dot the moisturizer on my cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose before gently massaging it all over my face. The lightweight, sorbet gel-like texture spreads effortlessly and gets absorbed into the skin within a few seconds. It doesn't feel heavy, greasy, or sticky after application, which I really appreciate.

Another thing I enjoyed was its refreshing citrusy fragrance. It made the application feel pleasant and added to the overall skincare experience.

Over time, I noticed that my skin looked and felt better than before. It felt softer and smoother, appeared a little brighter, and looked healthier overall. I also felt that the overall texture of my skin had improved.

As for its claims of fading dark spots and improving uneven skin tone, I haven't noticed any significant changes yet. However, since I've been using it only once a day and for less than two weeks, I feel it's still too early for me to comment on those claims.

Overall, my skin feels well moisturized, comfortable, and refreshed every morning, and I genuinely enjoy using it. I'll continue using it until the tub is empty and update this review if I notice any significant changes.

My Ratings

I am definitely going to rate it 4.8 out of 5. I have enjoyed using the Dot & Key Vitamin C + E Super Bright Moisturizer so far. In fact, it has become one of those products that I actually look forward to applying every night. Overall, I love its lightweight texture, refreshing citrusy fragrance, and the way it leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth, well moisturized, and looking healthier. While I haven't used it long enough to comment on its pigmentation or dark spot claims, my experience so far has been very positive.

Would I repurchase it? Absolutely! In fact, I'll most likely be purchasing the full-size tub once I finish this 15 ml sample.
