Hair on your skin is normal. Even facial hair is not unheard off. Everyone has it, be it you or me. While most women are blessed with facial hair that is fine and light-colored, some have excess facial hair (due to hormonal imbalance, genetic inheritance, a condition called PCOS, tumor, certain medications, etc.) that is a cause for embarrassment and great concern to them.

Irrespective of the cause, as a woman, if you are inclined to beauty and skincare and wish to have a healthy and clear face that is devoid of unwanted facial hair, then getting rid of it becomes essential. To remove hair from face, women generally visit beauty salons for facials, waxing and related beauty treatments. It is also pretty common for women to try shaving, tweezing, buying commercially available waxing strips, creams or facial hair removal tools to manage unwanted facial hair at home. Some also visit dermatologists for consultation and treatment.

If you are fine by anyone of the above methods, then no problem at all. You can definitely try them, depending on your facial hair growth, the costs involved and after weighing the pros and cons of each method.

But, on second thoughts, why spend money on getting rid of facial hair on a routine basis, unless you have undergone a laser treatment or electrolysis, when you can try simple home remedies instead? You can make these recipes with ingredients commonly found in your kitchen and use them at home whenever you want. If you agree to what I am saying, then keep reading to know how to make and use 3 simple and natural homemade recipes for managing unwanted hair on face.

1) The Sugar and Lemon Trick

Sugar and lemon are easily available ingredients, aren't they? This combination has long been used in some home-beauty routines because of its skin ligtening properties and managing unwanted facial hair, including upper-lip hair.

Lemon contains vitamin C and other antioxidant compounds, while sugar provides a physical scrubbing or exfoliating action. However, lemon juice can irritate facial skin and may cause a skin reaction when citrus on the skin is exposed to sunlight. So, use caution when trying this remedy.

Lemon juice

How To Make & Use It:

To make a sugar and lemon face mask, squeeze one lemon to extract its juice. Add two spoons of sugar and two spoons of water and mix well. Thereafter, heat the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely and the solution starts boiling. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool completely until it is safe to touch. Always test a tiny drop on your wrist first to make sure it won't burn your skin.

Meanwhile, wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat it dry. Apply a thin layer of the mixture to the areas where you want to manage unwanted facial hair. Leave it on for about 15–20 minutes. Gently massage in circular motions, then rinse thoroughly with cool water.

This homemade sugar-lemon scrub acts as a natural exfoliant. It sweeps away dead skin, and leaves your skin feeling smoother and looking brighter. Lemon juice can also temporarily lighten the appearance of remaining fine hair. However, keep in mind that this is a temporary grooming method, not a permanent hair removal solution.

Important Safety Tips: Test a small amount on your inner arm or jawline to check for skin sensitivity. If you experience burning or significant irritation, wash it off immediately with cool water and discontinue use. Follow up with a gentle moisturizer. Lemon juice can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, so avoid using lemon-based preparations before going outdoors.

2) Egg White and Cornstarch Peel-off Face Mask

Egg white is another simple kitchen ingredient that has been used in homemade face masks. When it dries, it forms a thin film over the skin. Combined with cornstarch, it creates a slightly thicker mask that can be peeled or rinsed away once dry.

This makes it an interesting option if you want to gently exfoliate the skin and make fine facial hair feel less noticeable.

How to Make & Use it

To make this homemade face mask, separate one egg white into a small bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and mix well until you get a smooth, slightly thick paste.

Clean your face and pat it dry. Apply a thin, even layer of the mixture to the areas where you want to manage unwanted facial hair. Leave it on for about 15–20 minutes, or until the mask has dried completely.

Once dry, gently loosen the mask and rinse your face with lukewarm water. Don't pull it off forcefully, as this can irritate the skin.

As the dried mask washes away, it helps lift dead skin cells and very fine surface hair.

Important Safety Tip: Always use a fresh egg and avoid applying the mask to broken, irritated or freshly waxed skin. If you experience itching, burning or redness, wash it off immediately. A patch test is also a good idea before using it on your face.

3) Kasturi Manjal and Besan (Gram Flour) Face Pack

In many Indian households, washing the face with gram flour or chickpea flour (also known as besan in Hindi) has been a traditional beauty practice. Gram flour is often mixed with simple ingredients such as turmeric and milk to make a gentle exfoliating face pack.

For this version, you can use Kasturi Manjal (wild turmeric) instead of regular kitchen turmeric. This is one of the traditional Indian home remedies for managing fine facial hair. Gram flour provides gentle physical exfoliation, while wild turmeric is traditionally valued in face packs for helping keep the skin clean, fresh and smooth. Unlike regular turmeric, Kasturi Manjal is also generally less staining, which makes it a popular choice for facial applications. However, if you don't have Kasturi Manjal, you can use a small amount of regular turmeric instead, although it may leave more colour on the skin.

Gramflour (Chickpea flour) + Wild Turmeric + Milk

How to Make & Use It

To make this face pack, take 1½ spoons of gram flour and add ½ spoon of Kasturi Manjal. Add about 2 spoons of milk, or enough to make a smooth paste.

Apply the mixture to your clean face and leave it on for about 15–20 minutes, until it dries and feels slightly tight. Then gently massage it with wet fingers and rinse with cool or lukewarm water.

The dried pack and gentle massage can help remove dead skin cells and excess oil, leaving the skin feeling smoother and cleaner. However, it should not be considered a proven method of removing facial hair from the roots.

My Experience

Having tried this method a couple of times, I would say it is one of my favourites. My skin felt soft, supple and brighter after using the pack. I also liked that Kasturi Manjal did not leave the noticeable yellow tint I would normally associate with kitchen turmeric.

I was worried that the pack might make my skin feel dry, but the milk helped keep it comfortable. I also felt that my facial hair looked less noticeable after using it, although it certainly did not remove all of it.

Don't expect miracles after one use. If you enjoy using this kind of traditional face pack, you can include it occasionally in your skincare routine, depending on how your skin responds.

Final Thoughts

These simple homemade remedies can be a gentle and inexpensive way to care for your skin and manage the appearance of fine facial hair. However, the results are temporary and can vary from person to person. If you prefer longer-lasting hair removal, options such as threading, waxing, laser hair removal or electrolysis may be more suitable.

As with any new skincare remedy, listen to your skin and stop using it if you experience irritation or discomfort.

Along these lines, we have a go at waxing straightaway. After it, your face isn't just red and spotty, yet in addition swollen and sore. We gravely pledge that we are not going to try it again. Be that as it may, right before the following date/party/wedding, we are left pondering – what threat can one more try do? Furthermore, we are back to repeating the endless loop! Dread not! As usual, Mother Nature has given us astonishing arrangements that, after some time, will enable us to say farewell to the much-abhorred facial hair. I said 'after some time' since natural cures take more time to demonstrate results. However, adhering to characteristic items won't harm your touchy facial skin, dissimilar to those cures that guarantee moment results. Also, except if you are oversensitive to any of the fixings, they won't have any reactions. Visit the best salon around you or stay home and try these mixtures
